In the first week of February, one side of the moat in the city was completely packed, crowded and covered with flower-laden floats, botanical contests, hippie children and handmade crafts. Local vendors I've never heard of and more tourists in one spot than I've ever seen. Chiang Mai is a colorful city, and this festival did it justice.
CHIANG MAI, THAILAND • VIENG JOOM ON TEAHOUSE
Katie and I had passed this beautiful shop a few times and had heard good tales about it's fabulous teas and lovely patio. All the rumors were true: this place was heavenly. Back in Georgia, Katie had spent lots of time drinking tea in tea houses like this one, but throw in the Asian vibe and you have Vieng Joom On. I wish I had had my camera out to capture our first impression of this beautiful place.
MAE SA WATERFALL, THAILAND
"We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life." Romans 6:4
A few weeks ago I had the amazing privilege of seeing a few new friends baptized. Three girls in a group that Katie and I rotated through teaching English for the first few months being here in Thailand are choosing to follow Christ as their Savior. The setting was beautiful. We arrived at the third of the ten levels of Mae Sa Waterfall at about 11 in the morning and spent the afternoon praising, eating, rejoicing, dunking, praying and freezing.
I am so thankful for the joy and brightness that has been brought to my life through knowing these women. Pii Angkhana, Khun Aoy and the rest of the Heartweavers ladies. I'm so expectant to see how these girls will continue to grow in the Lord.
